Evolution offers live dealer tables, presenter-led game shows and First Person table games with software-generated outcomes. These are three different formats. A live table follows a shared timer, a show bet selects a number or feature, and First Person lets a player control the pace of a round.
From live casino to a group of game brands
Jens von Bahr and Fredrik Österberg founded Evolution in Stockholm in 2006. Previously called Evolution Gaming, the company shortened its name in 2020. Group CEO Martin Carlesund has worked at the company since 2015. Its shares began trading on Nasdaq First North Premier on 20 March 2015 and moved to Nasdaq Stockholm’s main market on 7 June 2017.
The main shows arrived in different years: Dream Catcher in 2017, Lightning Roulette in 2018, MONOPOLY Live in 2019, Crazy Time in 2020 and Funky Time in 2023. They share a presenter and added multipliers, but their payment conditions differ. Paying for one feature does not automatically qualify a player for every other bonus.
The group also develops video slots through separate brands. “Evolution” in a casino menu can identify the live-game supplier, while the name on a slot’s loading screen identifies a particular studio within the group. Those names distinguish products whose rules cannot be carried over from one to another.
Where the live streams are produced
The main production hubs are Riga, Malta and Tbilisi. Evolution describes Tbilisi as its largest studio hub and Riga as an important development and launch location. Riga’s hundredth table opened in 2013. That is a historical milestone, rather than the current size of the whole network. The company now reports more than 2,000 live tables worldwide.
Studios operate in Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Romania, Spain, Armenia, Bulgaria, Czechia and Malta. Outside Europe, the network includes Canada, the US, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and the Philippines. The European network grew earlier too: the Belgian studio opened in 2015.
Dual Play connects online players to a real table inside a land-based casino. Evolution lists such tables in the UK, Malta, Romania and the US. The physical room and online interface serve the same game. Presenter language, appearance and limits can still differ between tables of one game type.
Live tables, game shows and First Person
| Format | How a round works | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| Classic live tables | A dealer works with cards, a wheel or other equipment. Bets close when the shared timer ends. | The exact variant’s rules, limits, main bets and side bets. |
| Game shows | A presenter starts a wheel or another main process; added features can use RNG. | The paid bet, the event needed to trigger its feature and where a multiplier applies. |
| First Person | RNG determines outcomes; a studio and its equipment are shown through 3D animation. | Pace, available controls and the exact edition. Go Live moves to the live game. |
Blackjack involves decisions about a player’s hand, baccarat involves choosing a betting side, and roulette involves choosing a number or group of numbers. Those choices do different jobs. A card-pair side bet does not automatically share a blackjack main bet’s theoretical return. Table names also matter: European and American roulette use different wheels.
A show can combine a physical event with a software feature. Lightning Roulette has a ball settling in a real wheel, while its lucky numbers and multipliers are selected separately. RNG in that added feature does not turn the displayed wheel spin into a prerecorded round.
Lightning Roulette rewards a specific straight-up bet
The original Lightning Roulette uses a European wheel with numbers 1–36 and one zero. After betting closes, one to five Lucky Numbers receive payouts from 50x to 500x. The enhanced payment applies when the winning number was selected as lucky and the player placed a Straight Up bet on that number.
| Bet and outcome | Payment rule |
|---|---|
| Straight Up without a Lucky Payout | 29:1. The ordinary single-number payment is reduced compared with standard roulette. |
| Straight Up on the winning lucky number | The assigned Lucky Payout applies, from 50x to 500x. |
| Splits, corners, red/black, dozens and other ordinary bets | Standard roulette payments. Covering a lucky number does not give these bets a Lucky Payout. |
For example, red can win in the same round where a red number received a large multiplier. The red bet still receives its ordinary payment. The multiplier belongs to the particular Straight Up bet, rather than every chip the player placed on the layout.
A 29:1 payment means €29 profit for a €1 winning stake, or €30 including the returned stake in an ordinary winning result. That explains the odds notation; a Lucky Payout follows its own payment table. The original Lightning Roulette’s rules should not be carried over to XXXtreme or another similarly named edition.
Crazy Time makes feature participation depend on the bet
Launched in July 2020, Crazy Time allows bets on 1, 2, 5, 10 or one of four features. Top Slot selects an extra multiplier for a particular betting spot. It boosts a winning bet when the wheel result matches that spot; displaying a multiplier alone does not award a payment.
| Feature | How its payment is decided |
|---|---|
| Coin Flip | Red and blue sides receive multipliers before the coin is flipped. The winning side’s value is paid. |
| Cash Hunt | Multipliers are hidden behind 108 targets. Each participant chooses a target before the timer ends. |
| Pachinko | A puck drops through pegs. Double doubles the bottom values and causes another puck drop. |
| Crazy Time | A participant chooses the blue, green or yellow flapper on a large virtual wheel. Its stopping position determines the payment. |
Everyone can watch a feature, but only bets placed on its matching spot can receive its result. A Coin Flip bet does not participate in Cash Hunt. Spreading money across number and feature spots changes both the total round cost and the events covered by those payments.
Recent history records outcomes that already happened. A run without a feature does not schedule its next appearance. The developer describes Crazy Time spins as independent random events. Waiting longer or selecting a certain spot does not make the game owe a missed outcome to a player.
Dream Catcher builds a chain of 2x and 7x multipliers
Dream Catcher has 54 equal wheel segments. Number bets cover 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 40. Two further segments provide 2x and 7x multipliers. A winning number bet receives its corresponding odds: a bet on 5, for example, pays 5:1.
When a multiplier lands, bets stay in place and the wheel spins again. The next winning number payment is enhanced by that value. A further multiplier multiplies the previous one. A sequence of 2x followed by 7x therefore gives 14x for the subsequent winning number result, rather than two separate payments.
Numbers occupy 52 segments, but each number appears a different number of times. A high-paying number and a frequent number therefore do not have equal chances. The silver segment triggers 2x and the gold segment triggers 7x. A flapper above the wheel marks its result; the multiplier stays in effect until the next number lands.
MONOPOLY Live combines Chance cards with dice rolls
MONOPOLY Live has 54 wheel segments: 48 numbered, two Chance, three 2 Rolls and one 4 Rolls. Bets cover a numbered spot or a specific dice-roll option. Chance does not have its own betting spot.
Chance gives a cash award or a multiplier. With a multiplier, bets remain for the next spin, and a repeated multiplier enhances the previous one. If the next result triggers a feature, its board values receive that enhancement. This sequence works differently from an instant Chance cash award.
Feature participation needs a bet on the triggered 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls spot. These provide at least two or four dice rolls respectively. Dice are rolled in the studio, while the character moves around a virtual board collecting payments at its landing positions. Watching that movement without the matching bet does not create an entitlement to a prize.
Funky Time uses letters, four features and DigiWheel
Funky Time uses the digital DigiWheel. Random multipliers are assigned to individual segments in each round. There are 24 letter segments, with an ordinary letter-bet payment of 25:1. The other betting options include number 1 and Bar, Stayin’ Alive, Disco and VIP Disco.
Bet on 12 Letters places twelve separate bets. At €1 on each letter, the total cost is €12. The equivalent four-feature button covers four spots. Placing several chips quickly does not turn them into one bet at the previous price.
Bar lets a participant choose one of three glasses with multipliers. Stayin’ Alive uses colour teams and a prize ladder: players start with four lives, and a black Stop ball removes a life. Disco has a 37-square dance floor; VIP Disco has 63 squares. Its character collects multipliers until it moves off the floor’s edge. A larger board changes the route without promising a particular payout.
First Person offers control over pace and a Go Live button
First Person titles are separate RNG games. They reproduce a live studio’s appearance, but software determines cards, spins and other results. The developer states that the linked live and First Person games share rules and paytables. That applies to a particular pair of editions, rather than one table covering every game.
Some titles offer faster play, free hands to fill a history display or a new shoe shuffle. Controls differ between games. A free history-building hand is not a cash payment and does not make the next paid outcome predictable.
Go Live moves through the interface to the live edition. The shared table pace then applies. That button does not mean every regional version or every dealer table is available to any account.
The slot studios within the group
| Event | What it added |
|---|---|
| 2018–2019: Ezugi | Announced in 2018, completed on 9 January 2019. Ezugi is another live-game brand. |
| 2020: NetEnt and Red Tiger | A substantial video-slot business. NetEnt had previously acquired Red Tiger. |
| 2021: Big Time Gaming and DigiWheel | A Megaways slot studio and a separate digital-wheel technology business. |
| 2022: Nolimit City | Another distinct video-slot brand. |
NetEnt slots retain their own names and mechanics. Red Tiger also releases games under its own brand. Sharing a parent group does not combine their RTP settings and features into a common set of rules.
Big Time Gaming is associated with Megaways, while Nolimit City has its own functions and distinct slot titles. DigiWheel supplies a digital wheel used in games such as Funky Time. It is a technology product, rather than another name for the Megaways developer.
The portfolio continues to grow. Alongside Sneaky Slots, Evolution announced North America-focused Spinning Whale on 29 September 2026. Its first game is named 888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win. A wider North American network debut was announced for November; the announcement does not make the game available at every operator already.
Licences and the 2026 regulatory settlement
| Market | Specific details |
|---|---|
| Great Britain | Evolution Malta Holding Limited, UKGC account 41655. Gambling Software and Game Host (Casino) are Active; the current permission entry runs from 1 October 2026. |
| Malta | Evolution Gaming Malta Limited identifies MGA/CRP/187/2010/01 as its licence for supplier operations. |
| Canada and the US | Permissions cover specific provinces and states. The company separately lists Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and several US markets. |
On 23 July 2026, the UKGC published a £4.75 million regulatory settlement and required an independent audit of relevant controls within twelve months of the licence review’s conclusion. The regulator found five genuine Evolution games on six websites run by two operators without a British licence, accessible to British consumers. The findings concerned risk assessment and distribution controls. The company’s current permissions remain Active.
A table’s brand and the account operator’s licence serve different parts of the service. A genuine Evolution game alone does not establish that a site is authorised to accept a player from a particular market. Identity checks, the cashier, bonus terms and account complaints belong to the chosen operator.
RTP, total stakes and mobile play
Evolution has no universal RTP across its products. In shows, return depends on the betting spot; in table games, it depends on the rules and bet type. An average description does not remove the differences between a main bet and a side bet. Paying for several spots together can make this distinction easy to miss.
A casino promotion does not change the show’s rules. Bonus-balance access, live-game wagering contribution and maximum stakes come from the operator’s specific offer. Video-slot free spins do not automatically provide free participation in Crazy Time or the Dream Catcher wheel.
Live games support computers, tablets and phones. On a small screen, the timer and accepted-bet indicator matter: the shared round continues if the player stays in a menu or loses the video picture. First Person’s individual pace lets controls be explored separately from a shared live table. Freeplay availability depends on the product and market.
A cash-round query benefits from the game name, table, time, round reference and paid betting spots. For a show with several wagers, one total amount does not explain a disputed payment. Transaction history helps distinguish an accepted bet from a chip the player only tried to place.
