Quickspin builds slots around symbols that change during a round. Pigs become Wilds, a princess expands across a reel, and a win unlocks hidden grid positions. Big Bad Wolf and Sakura Fortune show that approach well. Familiar stories and polished animation do not make the games low risk, though. Several leading titles have high volatility, and the same game can be supplied with noticeably different RTP settings.
A Stockholm studio within Playtech
Daniel Lindberg, Joachim Timmermans and Mats Westerlund founded Quickspin in Stockholm in 2011. Playtech acquired the company in 2016. Its acquisition announcement set a maximum consideration of €50 million: €24 million initially and up to €26 million tied to business performance. That figure was the purchase price of the studio, rather than a prize pool for its games.
Quickspin’s own company profile describes about a hundred people, more than thirty nationalities and five countries. Listed offices include Stockholm, Sliema in Malta and Kyiv. The main products are divided into Quickspin Slots and Quickspin Live. The live vertical adds a different format; it does not change the rules of the existing slot titles.
The website footer lists supplier licence MGA/CRP/137/2007. Its British register link points to UKGC account 38516, which is held by Playtech Plc, rather than a separate Quickspin casino. Permission to supply games does not establish the account terms of every operator carrying them. Payments, customer accounts and bonus restrictions belong to the casino offering the game.
RTP and risk across seven game models
A return percentage belongs to a particular configuration. Both Big Bad Wolf and Sakura Fortune have versions around 90%, even though they are often associated with their higher figures. Matching artwork, a familiar bonus and an unchanged title do not confirm that a casino is running the same mathematical model.
| Game | RTP configurations | Volatility on a 1–5 scale |
|---|---|---|
| Big Bad Wolf | 97.34%; 90.01% | 4.24; 4 |
| Sakura Fortune | 96.58%; 90.02% | 4.83 |
| Sticky Bandits | 96.58% in the specified game sheet | 4.10 |
| Big Bad Wolf Megaways | 96.05%; 94.11%; 90.19% | 5 |
| Sakura Fortune Epic Bloom | 96.06%; 94.19%; 92.07%; 87.15% | 5 |
| Cash Truck 3 Turbo | 96.06%; 94.19%; 92.07%; 87.15% | 5 |
| Golden Glyph 3 | 96.11%; 94.19%; 87.15% | 5 |
These are configurations for the named titles, rather than the full range of the studio’s catalogue. The risk scores use Quickspin’s scale and should not be compared directly with another developer’s numbers. Slot volatility describes how widely results vary, while RTP is the theoretical return over a large volume of play. Neither measure promises the length of an individual session.
The two original Big Bad Wolf models differ by 7.33 percentage points. Across a turnover of 1,000, their theoretical average losses are 26.60 and 99.90 in the currency being used. Turnover includes every stake, including winnings that are staked again. This is a calculation of the models’ averages; it does not predict an individual player’s final balance.
Big Bad Wolf: pigs transform during a cascade
In Big Bad Wolf, winning symbols disappear and new ones fill their places. Quickspin calls this Swooping Reels. Every second cascade changes one of the three pig types into a Wild, so six consecutive cascades transform all three. The progression belongs to a winning sequence. Separate losing spins do not fill that progression meter.
Three Bonus Scatters award ten free spins. Moon symbols on the last reel help the wolf knock down houses, add spins and offer a chance of a x2 multiplier. Pigs Turn Wild also remains active in the bonus. The first announcement was dated 26 June 2012, although Quickspin’s current product card says 2013. It is an early studio title, rather than a new release using an old fairy-tale name.
Megaways changes the familiar wolf’s rules
The 2021 Big Bad Wolf Megaways uses six reels with changing symbol heights. A full grid offers up to 117,649 ways to win. Cascades turn the pigs Wild after the second, fourth and sixth tumble, but the layout and mathematics are different from the original.
Three Moon Scatters trigger eleven free spins. The multiplier starts at x1, rises after wins and remains between bonus spins. Collecting three moons adds three spins and five multiplier points; six adds another three spins and ten points. Further moons add one spin each. The original Big Bad Wolf RTP does not apply to this version.
Sakura Fortune: respins and free spins are separate
The original Sakura Fortune has five reels, four symbols high, and forty lines. Two full Princess Wild stacks trigger respins. Additional Wilds extend the feature, and a spin with no new Wilds ends it. Mystery Nudge offers a chance for two or more partial Princess symbols to move into full stacks.
Free spins need three or more consecutive Scatters from left to right. That is different from three symbols in arbitrary grid positions. During a free spin, a landed Princess expands across her reel and awards an extra spin. The original description keeps the expansion for that free spin; this should not be confused with a Wild locked for the whole bonus in another game.
Epic Bloom requires only one full stack to trigger a respin. Its regular and enhanced free spins have different symbol combinations. The enhanced round applies x2, x3, x5 or x100 multipliers through full Princess Wilds. At a total win of 10,000x, Full Blossom pays the cap and ends the round. The sequel has its own Gamble, Extra Bet and two bonus purchases.
Sticky Bandits and Eastern Emeralds offer different bonuses
The original Sticky Bandits uses a 5×5 grid. Large Wilds appear on reels two and four and cover adjacent positions to the right. Its bonus awards seven spins. Positions that are Wild when the feature starts retain that property until the bonus ends.
The trigger descriptions contain an important mismatch. The web product card requires a Bonus symbol on reel one together with a Wild on reel two or four. The game sheet joins those conditions with “or”. A short description alone therefore cannot promise that either single symbol always triggers the bonus. The running version needs an unambiguous trigger, with symbol counts and positions taken into account.
Eastern Emeralds offers a Destiny Bonus choice after three Bonus Scatters. There are four free-spin options. Fewer spins come with higher volatility and a larger potential payout, so a higher spin count is not automatically a more valuable prize. Multiplier Wilds replace ordinary symbols, but not Bonus Scatters. Its stated win multiplier of up to 1,680x belongs to this particular title.
Cash Truck’s expanding grid and Golden Glyph’s multipliers
Cash Truck 3 Turbo begins with five reels, four positions high, plus three locked rows. A winning tumble opens three random positions. The fully expanded grid permits 16,807 ways to win. Once it is unlocked and tumbling has finished, a 3×3 Big Wild is placed in the centre.
Truck Raider is a separate cash-symbol collection bonus. It starts with three spins, and a new symbol resets the counter to three. An ordinary Grabber collects values when it lands; a Turbo Grabber collects again when another symbol subsequently appears. An Expander opens three more positions. A bonus payout of 40,000x ends the feature. A Gamble can award another Expander, but losing forfeits the bonus already obtained.
Golden Glyph 3 pays clusters across seven reels, five to nine positions high. A win creates a Power Glyph in the cleared area. Power-ups activate after the winning chain ends: they add Wilds, remove low symbols or transform connected symbols into matching ones.
Free spins start with six spins. Retriggering the Scarab power-up adds two spins and doubles the Golden Glyph multiplier through x2, x4, x8 and onwards. The multiplier is described as unlimited, but the round’s payout is capped at 10,000x. An unlimited multiplier does not mean an unlimited cash prize.
Bonus purchases and Extra Bet: the actual cost
A Bonus Buy pays for direct entry to a feature. Extra Bet changes an ordinary paid spin and its chance of landing the relevant symbols. Epic Bloom’s Extra Bet costs twice the base stake. At a base of 0.50, a round costs 1.00; a hundred starts cost 100 instead of 50. That is not equivalent to buying a hundred bonus rounds.
| Game and feature | Cost in base stakes | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Big Bad Wolf Megaways: bonus | 90x | 45 |
| Epic Bloom: standard free spins | 80x | 40 |
| Epic Bloom: enhanced free spins | 160x | 80 |
| Cash Truck 3 Turbo: at least three Scatters | 75x | 37.50 |
| Cash Truck 3 Turbo: at least five Scatters | 375x | 187.50 |
| Golden Glyph 3: free spins | 65x | 32.50 |
The amounts use the stake currency, rather than necessarily euros. A stronger initial feature costs more, but its price does not establish a guaranteed payout. Big Bad Wolf Megaways lists a separate purchase RTP of 96.44%; that figure should not replace the return for ordinary spins. Available purchases depend on the market and game version.
Achievements Engine: tokens for game events
The system launched on 5 April 2017, with Sakura Fortune as its first game. It tracks six kinds of events, such as landing a Scatter or winning with two Wilds, and pays rewards at four levels. A supported slot provides access to progress and rewards within the game.
Quickspin Tokens allow entry to a main feature, usually free spins. Loyalty Tokens are valued at one token per €1 of feature-entry cost; sufficient tokens can be converted into a bonus round. That does not promise cash withdrawal of each token as a euro. The game and its supplied version must support the system. A Quickspin logo alone does not confirm that tokens are available.
Quickspin Live, mobile play and choosing a version
Big Bad Wolf Live launched in summer 2023 through the Playtech Live platform. Its main game uses a 5×3 grid and twenty-five lines. Three Wolf Bonus symbols lead to a communal live bonus with multiplier collection and a wheel. A separate three-reel, one-line Top Up Game is available while waiting; buying the communal bonus costs 40x the stake. This is a distinct live product, rather than a mode within the first Big Bad Wolf.
Modern slots use HTML5, including in a mobile browser. Quickspin discontinued its old Flash versions on 31 December 2020. Installing Flash will not restore those games. Some older titles received HTML5 editions, so the actual launch and exact version matter more than a familiar thumbnail in a lobby.
A demo helps explain cascades, respins and changing meters. Its virtual balance cannot be transferred to a casino account. Choosing an offer depends on the available game, its RTP configuration, paid-feature costs and wagering restrictions. A bonus for one title does not cover the whole studio. Interface language does not replace residence country or determine account currency.
