Fortune Tiger review
Fortune Tiger, released on 20 March 2022, belongs to PG Soft’s Fortune series. It has since become one of PG Soft’s signature titles. The theme is Chinese New Year, with oranges, firecrackers, red envelopes, coin bags, charms and ingots. Its layout is minimal: 3 reels, 3 rows and 5 fixed paylines, designed for portrait-mode phones. The whole game revolves around random sticky respins and a x10 multiplier for an all-winning screen. By the studio’s own figures, almost a third of the total return comes from those respins.
Nine cells and the line stake
Perched over the reels is the tiger himself, a round cartoon character with a multiplier badge that pops up beside him. A red-and-gold frame surrounds the grid and the background is dotted with blossoming branches. It’s colourful without being cluttered, and nine large symbols are easy to tell apart on a small screen.
There are five lines, and each needs three matching symbols to pay. Three run horizontally along the top, middle and bottom rows, and two run diagonally. Wins read from left to right, and a line pays only its best combination.
That geometry makes the centre cell special: three of the five lines pass through it, the middle row and both diagonals. Corner cells sit on two lines, and the four edge cells between them on just one. A symbol that stops in the centre therefore matters more than any other.
The studio quotes payouts in line bets. With five lines, divide by five to convert them into total-stake multiples.
| Symbol | 3 on a line (line bets) | In total bets |
|---|---|---|
| Tiger (Wild) | 250 | 50x |
| Gold ingot | 100 | 20x |
| Jade charm | 25 | 5x |
| Coin bag | 10 | 2x |
| Red envelopes | 8 | 1.6x |
| Firecrackers | 5 | 1x |
| Orange | 3 | 0.6x |
The Tiger substitutes for ordinary symbols and is itself highest paying. The centre participates in three lines, a corner in two and other edge cells in one; this is geometry rather than a payout guarantee. With five equally staked lines, divide a pay value by five for the total stake: one firecracker line pays 1x, oranges 0.6x. Only the highest win on each line counts.
Respins and an all-winning screen
The Fortune Tiger feature can trigger at random on any spin. One symbol (not the Wild) is chosen, and the reels fill only with that symbol, Wilds or blanks. Matching symbols lock in place while the other positions respin, and the respins continue as long as new matching symbols or Wilds land. When none do, the feature ends and the win is paid.
Each new matching symbol or Wild sticks and earns another respin; all open cells producing no additions end the feature. Wild cannot be the selected symbol. Blanks allow the round to end with a partial board, so entry guarantees neither a full grid nor a large prize.
Classic free spins are absent. The main source of big wins is a x10 multiplier that applies whenever every symbol on the reels is part of a win. The condition doesn’t require a single symbol: three horizontal rows of different symbols qualify, as long as each row wins.
The official sheet shows exactly that case, with rows of coin bags, firecrackers and oranges. Each row pays on its own, and all nine symbols are in a win. At a €0.25 stake that’s 10 + 5 + 3 = 18 line bets, or €0.90, and €9 after the multiplier, 36x the stake.
The multiplier does not require one type in every cell. A full Tiger screen pays five lines at 50x the total stake and then 10x, giving 2,500x. A full envelope screen without a three-Wild line pays 8x before the multiplier and 80x after. These calculate layouts rather than frequencies or promised feature scenarios. Early termination at the cap is unspecified.
Maths, stakes and the Fortune series
96.81% RTP splits into 64.96% from ordinary play and 31.85% from the feature. Hit rate is 23.15%: 22.16% ordinary-play hits and 0.99% feature-winning outcomes. The last figure is not the frequency of all entries, so it cannot become one trigger per hundred spins, waiting intervals or a mean prize for every entry. Volatility is medium. Return shares likewise do not predict payouts in a session without a feature.
Big Win at 20x–35x is listed once per 68 spins, Mega Win at 35x–50x once per 2,438 and Super Mega at 50x or above once per 291. Fortune Ox figures are respectively 132, 1,220 and 409. These are payout categories rather than separate features; symbol values and the 10x condition alone do not explain the frequency differences. Stake combines a 0.05, 0.5 or 5 size, a 1–10 level and five lines, giving 0.25–250. There is no bonus buy or conventional free-spin round.
Fortune Mouse has 3×3, five lines, 96.96% RTP, a 73.64% base share, 21.84% hit rate and a 1,000x ceiling. Fortune Ox uses 3-4-3 and ten lines: 96.75%, a 72.58% base share, 21.32% hits and 2,000x; its feature guarantees a win and 10x requires one symbol type on the grid. January 2024’s Fortune Dragon has 3×3 and five lines: 96.74%, a 65.36% base share, 21.33% hits and 2,500x, with a multiplier reel instead of sticking symbols. Mahjong Ways 2 offers cascades and a 100,000x ceiling.
