A nudge shifts a symbol that landed only partly in view until it sits fully on the reel. In Nolimit City’s xNudge version the shift also works as a counter: each step adds one to the win multiplier, and several Wilds on one spin add their multipliers together instead of multiplying them.
The oldest studio game on our site is Hot Nudge, released 26 July 2018. The specs: a 5×4 grid, 96.29% RTP, a volatility the studio rates 9 out of 10 and a modest 2,413x cap. As an introduction to the trick it is clean, and no record chase. The series proper began with Tombstone (2019), where a three-row Outlaw Wild appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4, and each nudge step lifts the multiplier by 1. Return sits at 96.19% and the ceiling at 5,000x. Tombstone RIP, from 2022, keeps those Wilds as its multiplier engine, adds the xRIP rule that erases any win smaller than the stake, and raises the cap to 300,000x.
Same word, other studios
Pragmatic Play runs a related idea under the name PowerNudge. In Rise of Giza PowerNudge, dated 19 August 2021, the reels do not respin after a win but shift down for as long as something is left to pay. Five reels, three rows and 10 lines come with 96.49% RTP, a 4,000x cap and a low-volatility flag. Sweet Powernudge (15 December 2022) pairs the post-win nudge with a separate multiplier reel of up to 10x. Its RTP is 96.08%, the cap is 5,000x, and the board is not refilled by cascades. In Push Gaming’s Shamrock Saints (2024, 10,000x) the word turns up in Nudge & Reveal, a function where Mystery symbols shift and open.
The lesson for choosing is that the word in a title does not promise one rhythm. At Nolimit it means very high volatility. At Pragmatic it means a calmer mechanic with moderate ceilings. Judge by volatility and the cap, not the name, and for reading those fields the piece on slot specs helps.
