Dragon’s Fire review

Dragon’s Fire arrived from Red Tiger on 2 August 2018 as a fantasy slot. Its 40 paylines sit on a 5×4 grid, with a fire-breathing dragon and its egg, which acts as a multiplier meter, at the centre of the screen. The idea is simple: consecutive wins build the multiplier, and the Dragon’s Eye can push it higher at random.

The egg, Dragon’s Eye and winning streaks

The dragon dominates the middle of the screen, and the egg beside it displays the running multiplier. You never have to hunt for a small counter in a corner of the interface; one glance at the egg tells you what the next winning combination is worth.

Under the hood it is an HTML5 game built for a 16:9 frame at a base resolution of 1280×720, according to Red Tiger’s technical data. On a phone that means landscape is the natural way to hold it, since a 5×4 grid shrinks noticeably when turned upright. No separate portrait layout appears in the specs.

The egg multiplier activates after a win and grows with every consecutive winning spin, up to 50x. Step by step:

  1. A winning spin switches the egg on.
  2. Each further win in a row lifts it by one step.
  3. Payouts are multiplied by the current value.
  4. Outside the bonus, a losing spin resets it.
  5. During free spins, a losing spin does not reset it.

So in normal play the multiplier lasts exactly as long as an unbroken run. Regular spins produce short flashes rather than steady growth; the real building happens once free spins start.

Dragon’s Eye randomly adds up to 10x to the current value rather than setting it to ten. The total remains capped at 50x. The boost disappears on a regular-play blank but persists during the bonus. Exact ordinary-win increments and Eye frequency are unspecified. For example, an illustrative 0.6x pay at a 4x meter becomes 6x after an addition of six raises the meter to 10x; this is arithmetic rather than a forecast.

The golden dragon reveals free spins

Three Free Spins symbols anywhere trigger the feature. You pick a golden dragon to enter, and the pick reveals a random number of free spins; the studio gives no fixed count. The big difference from the base game is that the Dragon’s Egg multiplier does not reset after a losing spin, so it keeps building until the round ends.

The bonus can award further free spins, and the dragon may leave Wilds and extra spins. Picking a golden dragon reveals a random count rather than offering a guessing strategy. An early meter increase affects more subsequent pays. Starting awards, extension amounts and trigger frequency are undisclosed.

Maths and two sequels

Red Tiger lists 96.07% RTP and Evolution 95.25%; the discrepancy is unexplained, so check the active value in the game rules. The 25.45% hit rate does not establish streak lengths or bonus frequency. Volatility is high, with a 28.7 index; comparison figures of 13.86 for Mystery Reels and 35.94 for Laser Fruit do not replace a separate hit rate. The 10,366x limit concerns total round pays rather than a single top match at 50x. An exclusive bonus route and early termination at the limit are unestablished.

Megaways arrived in September 2019: a 6×7 grid, up to 117,649 ways, 95.72% RTP, 37.13% hit rate and a 10,470x limit. Fire Blast ignites up to three reels, each revealing up to four Wilds. Bonus wins burn and refill; the active multiplier carries into the bonus and back out. Infinireels arrived in February 2021: a 3×3 start, a new reel on the right after every win, a random Fire Egg multiplier, 95.73% RTP, 25.28% hit rate and a 10,413x limit.

Other Red Tiger mechanics include cloning Mystery Symbols in Mystery Reels and multiplier Wilds dropped by a slicing ninja in Ninja Ways.

Pros

  • The Dragon’s Egg multiplier can reach 50x.
  • Additional free spins can trigger within the bonus.
