Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop review
Temple Tumble 2 Dream Drop came out on 4 May 2022 as the sequel to a popular Relax Gaming game. The grid is still 6×6 and the ways go up to 46,656, but stone blocks on the grid change the number of ways. The novelty is that the game joins the Dream Drop jackpot network: any spin can begin with a jackpot spin played for one of five prizes. Money Train Origins Dream Drop, which came out on 8 June 2023, uses the same network.
A temple of stone: blocks and ways
At the start of every spin the grid holds 3 to 24 stone blocks. They occupy cells and carry no payouts: a block takes no part in combinations. The more blocks on the grid, the fewer ways to win. When blocks are destroyed, the freed places fill with symbols, and the ways rise toward the maximum.
A win needs the same symbol on at least three consecutive reels counted from the left edge, and where it sits within a reel is irrelevant. For each symbol only the longest run is paid, and duplicates on a reel multiply the payout. Ordinary wilds sit on reels 2-6 only and substitute for any symbol.
The studio pitches the game as an adventure in search of lost-legend treasure. The heroes face a field with riches behind it, and among the gold you should sometimes look up, since not all the treasure lies on the ground. That is a nod to the jackpots that can drop at any moment.
How the blocks break
Winning symbols disappear, and with them go the stone blocks standing directly to the left, right, above or below. The remaining symbols fall, new ones arrive from above, and the process repeats until wins run out. Blocks that had no win beside them stay on the grid.
So a win beside blocks is worth double: it pays and clears the grid, bringing the six free spins closer. A win far from the blocks pays but does not advance the main goal, which makes a long cascade chain more important here than a single big win.
Six free spins for a full clear
If every stone block is destroyed during a round, the player gets six free spins. The rules name only this route into free spins and never mention a scatter. So each base spin is judged by how far it clears the grid. Play runs as a hunt for blocks, not for bonus symbols.
The splash screen says the same: “Clear all stone blocks to trigger free spins”. Unlike scatter slots, you cannot simply wait for luck here: the result depends on a chain of cascades.
Three free spin modes and the choice before the bonus
Before the free spins the game asks you to choose one of three modes. In all modes part of the blocks are special, and any win next to such a block sets off its effect.
| Mode | What special blocks hold |
|---|---|
| Multipliers & Extra Spins | Only an added multiplier or extra spins |
| Combined | An added multiplier, spins, a persistent wild or Fire Transform |
| Wild & Fire Transform | Only a persistent wild or Fire Transform |
The modes differ in what exactly the bonus pays with. The first bets on the counter: multiplier and spin stock. The third builds play on wilds and symbol changes. The second blends all four effects, though each one appears less often.
The game text keeps volatility labels for the modes: multipliers are marked Very High, the mixed mode High, and the spins mode Medium. They belong to an older set of modes without the persistent wild and Fire Transform, but the logic holds: the more a mode leans on multipliers, the wider the spread, and the more it leans on spins, the steadier the play.
Multipliers and spins from blocks
A destroyed multiplier block adds 1, 2 or 3 to the total multiplier. The multiplier stays to the end of the free spins and grows as new special blocks break. A spins block adds 1, 2 or 3 spins to the balance. If every block in free spins, regular and special, is destroyed, the player receives 3 more spins.
Multiplier additions are summed, not multiplied: blocks worth +2 and +3 raise the total multiplier by 5. It is a calm scheme with no sharp jumps, and the spin stock and the multiplier grow independently of each other.
The persistent wild and Fire Transform
In Combined and Wild & Fire Transform modes, destroyed blocks with a wild are replaced by a persistent wild. It can land on any reel and has up to five lives. A life is spent when the wild takes part in a win, and when one is left and it enters a combination again, the wild is destroyed along with the other winning symbols. A persistent wild can therefore join several wins in a row and is worth more than an ordinary one, but it does not carry over between rounds.
A destroyed Fire Transform block is replaced by a target symbol, one of the ordinary ones. In the next cascade one kind of symbol turns into that target kind. The grid then holds more identical symbols, and with them a rising number of fitting paths. The effect is most useful when the target symbol is a valuable one.
The jackpot spin: a shot at Dream Drop before any spin
The jackpot spin fires at random when the spin button is pressed and is played before the ordinary spin. It cannot be bought, and the rules mention no separate fee for it. It is a separate 6×6 grid holding only blocks and DD symbols, with no other wins. To enter the Dream Drop bonus, each of the six reels must hold one DD symbol. Otherwise the player moves straight to the ordinary spin at their stake, and if the bonus does start, the ordinary spin runs after it ends. The higher the stake, the better the chance of triggering a jackpot spin.
Five reels, five jackpots
The Dream Drop bonus has five reels, one for each jackpot, and the row counts differ.
| Jackpot | Rows on the reel | First-cycle starting value |
|---|---|---|
| RAPID | 2 | 1 |
| MIDI | 2 | 5 |
| MAXI | 3 | 100 |
| MAJOR | 4 | 25,000 |
| MEGA | 5 | 500,000 |
Only blocks and DD symbols land on the reels. Blocks are removed after the spin, while DD symbols drop down and stay for the next spins. Play goes on until one reel is completely filled with DD symbols, and then the matching jackpot is won. Two reels cannot be filled in the same spin. The more rows a reel has, the harder it is to fill, which makes the MEGA the hardest.
Guarantees: how far a jackpot can grow
The jackpots are progressive: part of every stake goes into the prize pool, and the rules set upper bounds for the two biggest prizes. The MAJOR falls before it reaches 50,000. The MEGA falls before 1,000,000 on its first two drops and before 1,500,000 on the next two, after which the bar keeps rising up to a cap of 2,000,000. Press material from the studio named another upper bound, but the in-game rules fix the guarantee ceiling at 2,000,000. These are guarantee limits, not the size of a win: the real value may be lower.
12% of the stake into the prize pool, and how jackpots are paid
The total contribution to jackpots equals 12% of the stake and is split among the five prizes. One part feeds the growth of current values, another the starting sums of later cycles. A noticeable part of each stake works for the prize pool rather than for ordinary payouts, and by studio standards the RTP here is low.
The current jackpot value is displayed in euros, while the win is paid in the player’s currency, so outside the euro the final sum depends on the exchange rate. A jackpot cannot be won in demo mode: the rules say plainly that it is unavailable for play money, while the rest of the game, blocks and all three free spin modes included, stays open.
How the sequel departs from the original
The difference from Temple Tumble Megaways boils down to a few numbers. RTP fell from 96.25% to 94.8%, which is 1.45 points. The cap rose from 7,767 to 10,046 bets, an increase of 2,279 bets, about 29%, and according to the client configuration jackpots sit outside that number. The main novelty is the jackpot network and the jackpot spin. In addition, free spins gained three modes with persistent wilds and transformations, not just multipliers. The sequel trades part of the return for jackpots and a more flexible bonus.
Why 7.9 out of 10
On the plus side are a clear block system, three free spin modes with a real choice and built-in jackpots. On the minus side are a low RTP, 12% of the stake going to the prize pool and closed statistics. The studio does not publish the odds of the maximum, the hit rate, the free spin and jackpot spin frequency, the payout frequency per mode or the paytable of ordinary symbols; it also does not name the starting free spin multiplier or say whether the jackpot contribution sits inside the stated RTP. The result is an interesting hybrid that wins on variety but loses on price. The studio’s other projects are collected on the Relax Gaming page.
