Fire Hopper review
Push Gaming released Fire Hopper on 7 December 2021. Its 7×7 pond board combines cascading clusters with a Wild frog: it leaps to fireflies and prizes, leaves golden Wilds and carries its accumulated multiplier into seven free spins.
Six colours and groups of five or more
The studio sets the scene at a quiet countryside pond at the foot of a waterfall. The screen itself is sparse: water, lily pads, a few stones and 49 cells. No characters in the background, no animated scenery competing for attention. Colour comes from the symbols alone, lotus flowers in six shades plus fireflies and the frog.
Five or more matching flowers linked by edges pay in total-bet multiples. Diagonals do not join a group. The three low colours share prices and the highest table band is 20+. how cluster pays work explains groups versus awards for symbols anywhere.
5 — Top flower: 2x; Second: 1x; Third: 0.5x; Three low flowers: 0.2x.
6 — Top flower: 3x; Second: 1.5x; Third: 0.8x; Three low flowers: 0.3x.
7 — Top flower: 4x; Second: 2x; Third: 1x; Three low flowers: 0.5x.
8 — Top flower: 6x; Second: 3x; Third: 1.5x; Three low flowers: 0.7x.
9 — Top flower: 8x; Second: 4x; Third: 2x; Three low flowers: 1x.
10 — Top flower: 12x; Second: 6x; Third: 3x; Three low flowers: 1.5x.
11–12 — Top flower: 20x; Second: 10x; Third: 5x; Three low flowers: 2.5x.
13–15 — Top flower: 50x; Second: 25x; Third: 12.5x; Three low flowers: 6x.
16–19 — Top flower: 100x; Second: 50x; Third: 25x; Three low flowers: 12.5x.
20+ — Top flower: 200x; Second: 100x; Third: 50x; Three low flowers: 25x.
Five low symbols pay 0.2x, thirteen to fifteen pay 6x; twenty top symbols without features pay 200x, equivalent to 20 at bet 0.10 or 200 at 1. The rules identify this cluster as the largest plain base award and separately list its probability; it is not the entire round’s feature-inclusive maximum. A larger result needs other awards or multipliers.
Paid groups are removed and replaced while wins continue. One symbol may belong to several groups; a Wild between two colours can count in both. Each group uses its highest applicable award. A new paid spin refreshes the ordinary board; during feature cascades the main frog holds its position.
A leap pays before increasing the multiplier
The frog arrives at 1x and substitutes except for both firefly types. Every visible target—ordinary firefly, bonus firefly or instant prize—causes a leap. A golden Wild frog remains at the previous position with the pre-increase value, while the main frog gains +1. Five leaps from 1x reach 6x, and ten reach 11x; waiting without targets adds nothing.
An ordinary firefly does not pay. A prize has a nominal 1x–1,000x bet value and pays only when collected by the frog: the current multiplier applies first, then increases by one. Two fireflies before a 10x prize would leave golden 1x and 2x Wilds, bring the main frog to 3x, pay thirty bets, and then leave it at 4x. This target order is hypothetical; its distribution is undisclosed.
Cluster size includes Wilds. Seven low flowers and two participating Wilds form a nine-position group with a 1x nominal award. Nine flowers plus two Wilds make eleven positions and a different nominal price. The rules do not specify how multiple multipliers combine within a cluster, so neither the sum nor product of 4x and 2x can establish its actual award.
Seven spins keep the main frog
A bonus firefly alongside the frog causes a leap and awards seven spins after the triggering spin’s pays and cascades finish. That leap also adds one: a natural entry from 1x is therefore at least 2x, and other targets can raise it further. The main frog persists throughout the round, holds position during cascades and retains growth between spins. Golden Wilds last only the current spin and disappear before the next. No extension of the seven spins is described.
A hypothetical 3x entry with leap counts of 1,0,3,1,0,2,2 ends the spins at 4x,4x,7x,8x,8x,10x,12x. This demonstrates multiplier memory rather than forecasting awards: paying groups or collected prizes are still required. A higher start boosts applicable awards under identical later events without determining the outcome of two different features.
Buying and six RTP settings
A bonus buy explainer costs 124x where the operator enables it. The bought round’s starting multiplier is undisclosed, so natural carry-in cannot automatically be ranked as an advantage over buying. The client lists six settings with separate buy RTPs; the studio page names 96.30% and 94.50%. Stakes range from 0.10 to 100 and volatility is high; hit, feature and target frequencies are unpublished.
| Game RTP | Buy RTP |
|---|---|
| 96.30% | 96.38% |
| 95.39% | 95.41% |
| 94.50% | 94.66% |
| 92.33% | 92.45% |
| 90.30% | 90.32% |
| 88.51% | 88.67% |
Buy RTP is slightly above the corresponding main figure in each listed pair without guaranteeing recovery of the 124x price. The main 96.30% and 94.50% settings differ by 1.80 percentage points. The loading screen and game help show the active value; one operator’s setting does not establish another’s.
A hard ceiling and related mechanics
The rules impose a hard 50,000x per-round cap, although the studio page files it under highest observed win. Some theoretical outcomes are excluded. The cluster or prize reaching the ceiling is followed by a golden celebration and notice; all symbols except the main frog are then cleared and the round ends. It equals 5,000 at bet 0.10 or 50,000 at 1. An operator may set a lower limit. An exclusively bonus-only route to the ceiling is unestablished.
The launch release placed the game alongside Fat Drac and Mount Magmas; Fat Banker mentioned the frog among recent releases six months later. Jammin’ Jars moves growing jar Wilds after wins; here targets drive movement. Jammin’ Jars 2 adds instant prizes on 8×8. The studio describes January 2025’s Dragon Hopper as combining Fire Hopper and Retro Tapes with Cluster Link and Push Bet. That relationship does not transfer its rules to the pond.
