True Grit Redemption 2 review
The revenge western came out on 26 May 2026 and continues the story Nolimit City told in the first part. The grid is six reels by four rows, but part of the positions are shut behind boxes, and above the reels lies an enhancer row with its own symbols. Wins are counted by ways, and their number grows as the boxes open. On its game page the studio rates the volatility as extreme.
The maths: two thirds of the return in the base game
Nolimit City printed the principal indicators directly in the slot description; no separate maths file is attached. Of the total 96.07% RTP the base game pays out 64.65%, about two thirds, and the bonus 31.42%, roughly one third. For an extreme-volatility slot this is a more even split than in games where the bonus carries over forty percent of the return, so a dry spell hurts less here than in games tilted towards the bonus.
A win lands on 22.81% of spins, the bonus comes on average once in 246 spins and a win of 100x or more once in 799, more than three times rarer than the bonus. No symbol paytable is printed in the description. The total win cannot go past 34,000x: at that mark the round closes and the payout is fixed, and the studio puts the chance of getting there at about 1 in 21,000,000.
The 6×4 grid and six locked boxes
Four rows on six reels give 4,096 ways, since four to the sixth power is 4,096. This figure is named by the studio as the limit of the base layout. The starting board is smaller because six boxes shut off part of the positions, and they have to be opened as the round goes on.
Two actions open boxes: the xSplit symbol opens the boxes of its row, and an xBomb blast removes boxes in neighbouring positions. In Vengeance and Redemption some boxes are open already at the trigger. So board density changes from spin to spin more than in games with a fixed grid.
The enhancer row and cascades
Above the reels sits a row holding special symbols: xSplit, xWays, Toxic xWays, Infectious xWays, Rat, Rat King and Hunter. They do nothing while they lie on top and switch on when they fall into the main area during cascades. Winning symbols vanish and new ones lower into the gaps, so the length of a chain depends on what turns up from the top.
As a result the enhancer row is only partly predictable. The player sees the symbols about to drop but does not know what wins the nearest collapse will bring. A cascade of three or four steps can therefore change the character of a round sharply.
The global multiplier
A round opens with the global multiplier at 1x, and every win lifts it by one. It also grows from special symbols: the xBomb, the Rats, the Rat King, the Hunter and the Redemption Girl. Each new symbol falls in with the same multiplier the global one holds at the moment of the drop. For example, a win takes 1x to 2x, an xBomb exploding in the same chain takes it to 3x, the next winning collapse to 4x, and new symbols then fall with a fourfold factor.
That is the main axis of the game. The longer the chain of wins, the higher the base from which new symbols start, and the dearer each next combination becomes. In the base game the multiplier lives inside a single round, and in a bonus it carries between spins.
xBomb and xSplit: blast and split
A detonating xBomb clears the symbols around it, sparing Wild, Reckoning Girl and Bonus, and adds one to the multiplier for the following collapse. Boxes in neighbouring positions disappear along with the symbols, so the bomb cleans the board and opens it at the same moment.
The xSplit divides all other symbols in its row and doubles their multipliers. It also opens the boxes in that row. Once every xSplit has been played, they turn into regular paying symbols. This pairing of splitting with opening boxes makes the symbol the most important one for unfolding the board.
Three kinds of xWays
The plain xWays reveals a random paying symbol with a starting multiplier equal to the global one, then adds 2x, 3x or 4x to itself. If there are several, they all show the same symbol.
The Toxic xWays reveals a symbol and adds 2x to itself and to every matching symbol on the grid. The Infectious xWays doubles the multiplier of that symbol on all of its copies. Infectious is available only in Vengeance Spins and Redemption Spins, the upper bonuses, where the board is already open.
xWild and the Redemption Girl
The xWild turns every symbol on its reel into a Wild while keeping their multipliers. Bonus, Reckoning Girl, the Rats and the Rat King are not affected.
The Redemption Girl is a Wild herself and takes the multipliers from every symbol on her reel, adding them to her own. When she takes part in a win, her multiplier is added to the global one for the next collapse. She does not take the multipliers of Rats.
The Hunter, the Rats and the Rat King
The Hunter appears only in the enhancer row or in the boxes. Once on the grid he adds 50x to himself, to every symbol on the grid and to the global multiplier. He has no effect on the Redemption Girl, the Rats, the Rat King and Bonus. No other jump of multipliers in the game is as sharp.
Rats carry multipliers from 1x to 5x and Rat Kings 15x, 20x or 25x. When four or more Rats or Kings gather on the grid, they are removed and the sum of their multipliers is added to the global one. When split, the number of Rats in the affected cell doubles while the multiplier stays unchanged.
A ladder of three bonuses
The bonus mode depends on how many Bonus symbols landed together: three, four or five. As the count grows, so does the number of boxes already open at the start.
3 — Mode: Reckoning Spins; Spins: 7; What is switched on: global multiplier and open boxes persist.
4 — Mode: Vengeance Spins; Spins: 10; What is switched on: boxes on reels 5 and 6 open, Infectious xWays appears.
5 — Mode: Redemption Spins; Spins: not stated; What is switched on: every box open.
The studio names the number of spins only for the first two modes. Every next mode absorbs the rules of the previous one, so the top one is richer than the lower ones in every respect.
Reckoning Spins: accumulation without a reset
In the lowest bonus the global multiplier is not reset between spins, and opened boxes stay open until the end of the round. In the base game the multiplier lives for one series of collapses; here all seven spins work towards a shared total.
So long series win in this mode, not single large combinations. Each win lifts the common multiplier and it remains for the next spin. If a series is short, the accumulation has no time to build.
Vengeance Spins: an open edge and infection
Ten spins get everything from Reckoning Spins, plus open boxes on the fifth and sixth reels already at the trigger. The enhancer row can now hold the Infectious xWays. It multiplies all copies of a symbol at once, which gives the fastest growth of multipliers.
Opening the outer reels means the board is wider from the very start. Together with the Infectious xWays the mode works as an accelerator: the global multiplier and the multipliers of single symbols grow at the same time.
Redemption Spins: a board with no locks
Five Bonus symbols open every box at once. The board gets full capacity from the first spin, and the Infectious xWays stays available. It is both the strongest mode and the scarcest, because five Bonus symbols appear much less often than three. The studio does not report its frequency separately, and the overall bonus figure covers all the tiers together, so it is wiser to count on the lower modes.
Paid options: boosters and the xTra spin
In place of the familiar bonus buy the studio put out boosters. Three raise the multipliers and the cheapest brings the bonus closer.
| Booster | Price in base stakes | Guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Booster | 1.5 | a Bonus symbol on the bottom position of reel 2 |
| Gritty Spins | 7.5 | 5x on the global multiplier and every symbol |
| Grittier Spins | 30 | 20x on the global multiplier and every symbol |
| Grittiest Spins | 1,869 | 500x on the global multiplier and every symbol |
The starting multiplier of the boosters does not extend to the Redemption Girl, the Rats, the Rat King and Bonus. The price rises faster than the multiplier: 5x and 20x both cost 1.5 stakes per unit of multiplier, 500x about 3.7, two and a half times dearer. While a booster is on, its price is charged on each spin.
Separately, at the close of a round the game may put an extra spin on offer, the Extra Spin xTra. It keeps the global multiplier and the opened boxes, and its price depends on the multiplier value and the number of open boxes. Should the price exceed the win of the spin before, no offer appears, so the extra spin never costs more than that spin brought in.
The first part and other games from the studio
The first part, True Grit Redemption, has a 96.11% RTP and a 20,220x cap. In the sequel the RTP is almost the same while the cap has grown about 1.7 times, to 34,000x. For a similar mood there is the studio western Tombstone RIP, where the cap is incomparably higher. The rest of the developer lineup is collected on the Nolimit City hub.
